Take Charge of your Future...
Our Regional Youth Enterpreneurship Initiative promotes several programs encouraging young people to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career direction.
Youth Ink / Generation
E
Generation E is a hands-on, creative thinking session allowing young people to look at their own aptitudes and to generate business ideas based on their interests or a need in the community. Youth learn both the realities and the opportunities of entrepreneurship.
Kids Invent
Students between the ages of 9-12 create new toys, market their product and have a lot of fun while learning about inventing and entrepreneurship. This program is offered as a March Break day camp or an after school activity.
Youth Enterprise Camp Entreprise Jeunesse
This popular camp introduces youth to the values and skills needed to be successful in today's economy while helping them to discover the entrepreneur within. Campers get a classic summer camp experience (swimming, boating, campfires and new friends) while learning the ins and outs of private enterprise (financial awareness, confidence, teamwork and communication skills). The five day camp is held at Camp Cadanac near Moonbeam, Ontario and is supported by regional CFDC's, Fednor and many private sector entrepreneurship enthusiasts.
Create a Logo
This initiative targets grade 4-6 students and offers in-service workshops to teachers. Students are encouraged to participate in a competition by identifying and naming a business opportunity that they believe could work in their community, region or province. They are required to write a paragraph describing what their business is about, design a logo which relfects their business and briefly explain the meaning of their logo. Students can compete for prizes.
Market Your Thoughts
For students in grades 7-8, Market Your Thoughts is a competition that involves identifying and naming a viable business opportunity for their community, region or province. Students complete an essay detailing the business and the elements of its success. Students compete for cash and prizes.
FedNor Business Plan Challenge
Through a series of in-class workshops, secondary school students learn the mechanics of drafting a workable business plan then write their own. Students may enter their work in a regional competition where they present their ideas to a panel of judges. Top three business plans are awarded prizes and the winner can go on to compete provincially.
